The good news is that we currently sit at 26th overall for the season (15th adjusted for our DJ mix-up earlier this year). 4 more weeks. Let’s try to keep things going. Rickie is Mr. Consistent recently. You have to love 5 top 10s in his last 6 events. When you have a new course, it’s nice to have a player who hits fairways and has a nice short game. He’s also been good in this first playoff event, but it doesn’t mean as much this week. We’ll make sure to have Rickie on our team given he’s #3 in recent performance.

We’ve got a slight lean toward DJ on Monday evening, but we’re going to watch some coverage and see what challenges Glen Oaks could give the pros. DJ has been playing better since the RBC Canadian but he’s still not quite back yet. Rory is our other option though Day is lurking marginally behind these two. It will be a tough call on Wednesday when we set our final lineup.

PGA Championship finish was less than desirable and he’s shown that he doesn’t have much of a 100-150 yard game right now. Maybe a week off will let him straighten that out. He’s driving well but it’s tough to trust his putter on greens this fast (supposedly they’ll be rather quick here). That opens things up slightly for Day, especially if putting becomes an issue.

9th at the PGA Championship but given it’s a new course this week, we’re lacking “horse for the course” data and course fit data. It’s a bit of a guessing game, but Day’s name could be in the conversation. We’re leaning DJ right now but that could change.

Marc is playing well right now, but he’s hard to trust in the playoffs with the other fire power right above him.
Other options include: (A6) Patrick Reed, (A7) Louis Oosthuizen, and (A8) Gary Woodland.

Great recent performance and a player you should have in your lineup. He fits most courses, so it’s hard to go wrong. With only 2 starts remaining, we’ll have to be judicious about how we use him given we’re also likely to have Spieth on the bench. We’ll need to be strategic with Hideki and make sure we don’t get caught looking the wrong way here.
(B2) Paul Casey (13) PGA Championship

We’re out of Casey starts, but he continues to play well, so if you have him, most likely he’ll be a nice option this week, though he rarely wins.

(10) 2016
MC 2015
(22) 2014
(19) 2013

Cooled the last two times out but given we only have 2 starts remaining, he allowed us to preserve him for the playoffs. He should be ready to go and we’ll likely stash him on our bench.
(B4) Matt Kuchar (9) PGA Championship
(17) WGC Bridgestone

(39) 2015

(38) 2012
(2) 2011
Same thing with Kuchar as Casey. Solid player who is playing great, though we’ve used all our starts. Not likely to win but typically plays fairly nicely.
(B5) Justin Thomas (1) PGA Championship
(28) WGC Bridgestone
MC British Open
MC Quicken Loans
(10) 2016
(16) 2015

Justin Thomas’ PGA Championship was an unlikely victory given where he’s been the past few months. Does that make him a threat in the playoffs? We’ll see. He’s not a lock to be in our lineup as he’s so inconsistent week-to-week. It’s hard to trust him with all his MCs as we think about stashing B players on the bench this week.
(B6) Charley Hoffman (48) PGA Championship

MC 2012
(10) 2011
Charley faded at the PGA Championship, but he’s still be playing great and has contended in tough tournaments this year. He could be a reasonable alternative to the other Group B players.
(B7) Webb Simpson (3) Wyndham Championship
(33) PGA Championship
(37) British Open

Webb was trending up last week and he’ll look to continue that momentum into the future. Putting is a concern on fast greens.
Other options include: (B8) Jamie Lovemark, (B9) Kevin Chappell, and (B10) Kevin Kisner.

Henrik played magnificently last week at the Wyndham and he’ll look to carry that over to this week. He’s really been on the rise recently and took advantage of a week field last week..

Koepka faded over the weekend at the PGA Championship but he should have had time to rest. The playoffs are unpredictable, but having a stud like Koepka in a tournament like this is usually a good thing.
